CDC (Centre Disease Control) recommends washing hands with soap and water whenever possible to reduce pathogens/chemicals on hands.
They also recommend that if you are using an alcohol-based sanitiser it should be at least 60% concentration or even higher to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.
"Alcohol-based hand sanitisers can quickly reduce the number of microbes on hands when used correctly, but if we do not use a large enough volume or wipe it off before our hands have completely dried, it may not be as effective."
“One should be aware that there are important differences between washing hands with soap and water and spraying them with hand sanitiser. For example, alcohol-based hand sanitisers don’t kill ALL types of germs, such as a stomach bug called Norovirus, some parasites, and Clostridium difficile, which causes severe diarrhoea. Hand sanitizers also may not remove harmful chemicals, such as pesticides and heavy metals like lead”.
Using traditional methods and 19th Century practices to combat 21st Century challenges, leaves us with two choices:
Increase the potency of the products we use or increase the frequency of use.
But is "more of the same" the answer and how can this easily be incorporated into our daily lifestyles?
The goal of any sustainable environmental hygiene program is to break the cycle of infection. This can be best accomplished by increasing the intervals where surfaces and hands are germfree. Technology that works well and lasts longer, obviating the need for constant re-application. . Both traditional options have toxicity, cost and labour issues and are they sustainable?
Zoono and Germfree24, once activated in the environment on our hands or surfaces, forms an invisible, durable antimicrobial film and bonds to the surface or skin. This disrupts the micro-organisms cell membrane and provides the product with its durability. The active ingredient is not washed off on surfaces for up to 30 days and on our hands for up to 24 hours.
This is a technology that eliminates pathogens via mechanical versus chemical destruction, removing the risk of these pathogens acquiring immunity and resistance.
ps. did we mention that the Zoono Sanitiser has proven effective against coronavirus!
